DAILY DIARY.

Buxton based Moving Talent are in rehearsal for their fifth Buxton Festival Fringe and are delighted to be appearing once again at Nice One. The venue is very much our home from home.

FRINGE BENEFITS premiers at the 2008 Fringe and takes us back to our roots as it is has been written in-house. While the decision to perform three of Jean McConnell's DECKCHAIRS playlets in the Opera House's Fringeseason gave our writers some time off, everyone is happy to be working on something original once again. This year Astrid Ayers has been otherwise engaged with the final edit of a novel so FRINGE BENEFITS was scripted by Patrick Gordon, with assistance from D G Collins.

Anyone who has seen Moving Talent in action will know that our forte is one act dramas with at least a hint of comedy and several twists in the tale. From our first Fringe production COMMERCIAL BREAKS - where office secrets threatened long standing friendships - to THE RETURN - a dark murder mystery - we like to keep our audience guessing to the end.

Set at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, FRINGE BENEFITS features three of Moving Talent's actresses. Dianne Langley plays Mrs Murchieson, an Edinburgh landlady who stands no nonsense, especially not from the members of the impoverished theatre company using her venue. Karen Nicholas is Sandy, the company gopher and an aspiring actress who gets scant opportunity to display her talent. Imogen Westmoreland - diva without equal - is played by Lynda Ward.

Joining us are Paul Harrison and Peter and Katherine Bremner. Paul and Peter were guests in our production of OLD GELS in 2006. In that, Paul played George, one of a quartet of old school chums who arrived at their reunion lunch without telling anyone he had undergone a sex change since their last meeting. Peter was Max, the secret son of one of the foursome who was now married to another. This year, Paul plays Dominic Winslow, co-owner of the theatre company, who tries to please everyone while performing a creative juggling act to keep them solvent. Katherine Bremner is Dominic's wife Wendy, the company's leading lady although that is by virtue of having access to her father's wealth. Peter Bremner is Detective Inspector Andy Crawford, called in when events take a rather unexpected turn.

With so many familiar faces and a brand new production, we are expecting good audiences so book early to be guaranteed a seat on the night of your choice!
